Monolithic Kerr and electro-optic hybrid microcombs

چکیده

Microresonator-based soliton generation promises chip-scale integration of optical frequency combs for applications spanning from time keeping to synthesis. Access the repetition rate is a prerequisite those applications. While miniaturized cavities harness Kerr nonlinearity and enable terahertz rates, such high rates are not amenable direct electronic detection. Here, we demonstrate hybrid electro-optic microcombs using lithium niobate thin film that exhibits both Pockels nonlinearities. By interleaving high-repetition-rate comb with low-repetition-rate on same waveguide, wide mode spacing divided within single chip, allowing detection feedback control rate. Our work establishes an integrated approach electronically access solitons, paving way building referenced sources.

Hybrid electro-optically modulated microcombs.

Optical frequency combs based on mode-locked lasers have proven to be invaluable tools for a wide range of applications in precision spectroscopy and metrology. A novel principle of optical frequency comb generation in whispering-gallery mode microresonators ("microcombs") has been developed recently, which represents a promising route towards chip-level integration and out-of-the-lab use of th...

Complex monolithic and InP hybrid integration on high bandwidth electro-optic polymer platform.

We report on the monolithic integration of multimode interference couplers, Bragg gratings, and delay-line interferometers on an electro-optic polymer platform capable of modulation directly at 100 Gb/s. We also report on the hybrid integration of InP active components with the polymer structure using the butt-coupling technique. Combining the passive and the active components, we demonstrate a...

Finite Element Based Kerr Electro-optic Reconstruction of Space Charge

Recently we used the onion peeling method to reconstruct the axisymmetric electric field distribution of point/plane electrodes from Kerr electro-optic measurements. The method accurately reconstructed the electric field from numerically generated data. However in the presence of experimental noise the performance was less satisfactory. The measurements were especially noisy and unstable near t...
